Alabastri Pecchioni Firm represent a continuity of a family tradition. Giorgio, born in 1963, begins working in his father´s alabaster shop where he learns artisan techniques of alabaster working and discovers the love for this material. In 1990,he begun to participate in artisan show and exhibitions in Italy and Europe, during which he does practical demonstrations of alabaster sculpting techniques. In 1994-1995 and 1997 he begins to have acknowledgements in competitions held at the Mostra dell´Artigianato di Firenze (the Florentine artisan show), for his original and refined wok. Some years ago he began to study and do technical research on musical uses of alabaster; some instruments have been tested by professional musicians who use some kinds of alabaster flutes in their performances.
